In 1954, James S. Kirkley formed a partnership with the Hopping Funeral Home in Annapolis, and founded the Kirkley Funeral Home. Jim, the son of a Methodist minister, immediately dedicated himself to providing dignified, personalized funeral services in a comfortable homelike atmosphere.
Mr. Kirkley’s personal attention to the families he served helped the business grow through the years. In 1981, Scott A. Ruddick joined the staff, and became managing partner a few years later. Mr. Ruddick has completely remodeled the facility to better serve the families of northern Anne Arundel County. His equally important goal: preserving and enhancing the homelike environment that Mr. Kirkley had created.
