Elsie Donnett Hammell, 87, resident of Glen Burnie, died on May 18, 2025, under the care of Baltimore Washington Medical Center. Elsie was born on Tillmans Island on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, on October 1, 1937, to Edgar and Louise (Collins) Lednum. Elsie had several different jobs throughout her life, but working beside her husband Emory in Brooklyn at Luke's Trading Post, is something she loved. She also enjoyed listening to live music (especially if it was an Elvis impersonator), going out on the weekends, and having those HUGE Christmas party at the bar. She could never have enough Tweety Bird collectables. She really enjoyed working in her garden; planting perennials and enjoying her annuals also. But by the end of the day, or anytime of the day, she could be found on her porch, reading a book and watching the joggers go by. She loved her family and will be missed by them.
Elsie is preceded by her parents, Edgar and Louise (Collins) Lednum; her 5 siblings; her husband, Emory H. Hammell; and her daughter, Mary Hammell. She is survived by her son and daughter in law , Edward Hammell and Ruby Bjertness of Glen Burnie; her 4 grandchildren and her 6 great grandchildren.
