Akiko (Miki) Brady, 80, of Catonsville passed away peacefully at home after a long battle with cancer on July 19, 2021.
She was born in Tokyo, Japan on June 13, 1941 and grew up in Yokohama. She met her husband in Kamakura while he was stationed with the US Navy. Miki left Japan for Baltimore, Maryland, where they married and raised a family. Miki was an excellent cook and gifted seamstress. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and spending time in her gardens. She loved the game of baseball, especially watching her son’s little league games when he was young and always cheering for the Baltimore Orioles. She also enjoyed watching the University of Maryland men’s basketball team. She was a devoted grandmother and especially loved being around small children and babies.
Miki was predeceased by her husband, Michael Lee Brady. She is survived by four daughters, Miyuki (Kyoshi) Tomita; Deborah (Christopher) Asher, Diane Chapman, and Dana (Griffith) Bell; son, Joseph Brady; seven grandchildren, Hiroki Tomita, Mason and Wyatt Bell, Katie and Jackie Asher, and Gavin and Avery Chapman; three brothers and one sister in Japan.
