Angela C. Proutt

Angela C. Proutt, 77, a Millersville resident for the past 48 years, died January 10. She was born Angela Chambers in Baltimore on August 1, 1935 to William B. and Madeline R. Chambers (nee Shenton). An executive secretary, she also worked with her late husband, Ray M. Proutt, at Proutt Lines, Inc. A member of the Women's Business Association, she also volunteered at the Women's Crisis Center Hot Line. Her hobbies included sewing, swimming with her friends who called themselves "the aquababes," cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her children, James O. Clayton III of Middle River, Kenneth Roy Ahonen of Miami Beach, FL, Laura Lee Deale of Annapolis, Linda Jo Herrell of Millersville, and Jennifer A. Phillips of Mt. Airy. Mrs. Proutt is also survived by brother, William B. Chambers Jr. of Westminster, CA; sisters, Jean Bender of Pasadena and Virginia Poaletti of Winterville, NC; as well as 12 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
