On May 8, 2012, Arys H. Huizinga passed away at BWMC at the age of 87. Born in Illinois, Arys was a resident of Glen Burnie since 1961. Devoted husband of 66 years to Germaine K. Huizinga (nee Lubien); Beloved father of Steven A. Huizinga of Glen Burnie, Catherine A. Parker and her husband James of Elkridge and Mary E. DeTota and her husband Louis of Elkridge; Loving father-in-law of Beverly Huizinga; Cherished grandfather of Sarah and Stacy Huizinga and great-grandfather of Emily Rose Crabtree and Ethan A. Huizinga Kelly. Arys was predeceased by his siblings William Huizinga and Dorothy Anders. Arys proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during WWII. He attended the University of Illinois and graduated with a degree in Engineering and later from the University of Baltimore City with a Law degree and also he attended the Armed Forces College. Arys worked as an engineer for the Dept. of Maritime, the Dept. of Commerce and retired from the Dept. of Transportation. After retirement, Arys continued to work as a contractor for SAIC. Arys enjoyed golfing and running and participated in marathons. He also enjoyed watching the Orioles, Colts and later the Ravens. Most especially, Arys was a family man and loved spending time with his family.
