Austin S. Rice, a Glen Burnie resident since 1953, passed away on December 18, 2014. Born in Baltimore to the late Jack and Mabel (Morris) Rice. Mr. Rice was an Army Infantryman during WWII and was a Deacon at the Linthicum Baptist Church where he also was a founding member. Mr. Rice was a Founding Father, board member and coach for the Brooklyn Park Broncos Football. He coached football and basketball for the A.A. Co. Optimist, sponsored ARC basketball teams and was the Anne Arundel County Football Commissioner. Mr. Rice was the owner of Austin Rice Company, Inc. and enjoyed trips to the Casinos and watching the Orioles or Ravens. He loved his family more than anything else. Austin is survived by his sons, Warren A. Rice and his wife Karen of Gambrills, Thomas P. Rice and his wife Karen of Pasadena; daughter, June A. Poynton and her husband Kevin of Columbia; brother, Paul D. Rice and his wife Rose of Linthicum; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Leeora S. (Vain) Rice brothers, Kenneth and Charles Rice.
