Abbottstown

Bernard Francis Xavier Murray, 85, from Abbottstown, PA and formerly of Glen Burnie, MD. Beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 4, 2020. He is survived by his three loving children, Robin (Ron) Brocious of Linthicum, MD, Kevin (Cynthia) Murray of Sunnyvale, CA and Dana A. (Stanley Jr.) Jett of East Berlin, PA; seven cherished grandchildren, Amy (Craig) Babst, Craig (Rachel) Brocious, Kyle (Jessica) Murray, Macy (Larissa) Murray, Kirsten (Kyle) and Christian Arcarese, and Stanley (Kaitlyn) Jett III; and eight devoted great-grandchildren, Kira, Khloe, and Kendall Babst, Brielle Murray, Caroline Brocious, Haley, McKenzie, and Stanley Jett IV, two dear sisters, Lorraine Lancaster and Bernardine Shaw as well as his constant companion and fur daughter, Sadie Elizabeth. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Joyce Elizabeth Murray, and his parents Bernard E. & Hilda E. Murray. His greatest joys in life were his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Bernard was a very private yet kind hearted man. He was full of style and class - and his wardrobe full of monogrammed shirts and extensive necktie collection showed it. He enjoyed watching Fox News, Notre Dame football, retail therapy, and dining at his favorite restaurants. He thoroughly enjoyed whatever sweets he could get his hands on...especially Berger cookies. Bernard was a proud Veteran, serving in the US Army from 1956-1958 as a Medic. Bernard was a banker and served as President of Peoples Bank in Charles Town, WV. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Rotary and Leads Club of Glen Burnie. Bernard spent many years volunteering and mentoring at the grandkids schools. He is forever in our hearts. Visitation and Interment will be private at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery. A celebration of life will be  held at a later date so that we can truly honor Bernard’s life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Linthicum Veterans Memorial at PO Box 202, Linthicum, MD 21090.
