Betsy Holland, 82, lifelong resident of Anne Arundel County, currently Linthicum, died May 19, 2014, in the care of John Hopkins Hospital. Betsy was born September 4, 1931 to Edwin and Ida (Reineke) Truitt in Baltimore,City. She was a Glen Burnie High School graduate, even winning the "June Bug" dance contest. She was an Executive Secretary with several large companies in the area; Mead Electric, Elliott Machines, to mention a few. After leaving the business world, Betsy then became a "Professional Nanny" in 1989. She was an avid gardner, home interior decorator, loved dancing and cooking; especially her "secret recipes" that will remain top secret. The hunt for the "perfect crab cake" will continue in her memory. Betsy is preceded by her parents and son, Joe Countess. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Jack Holland; sisters, Esther Neighoff of Linthicum and Shirley Marshall of Seattle; step-children, Mary Holland of Baltimore, Barbara Teal of Glen Burnie, Jack Holland, Jr. of Annapolis and Sandra Mustin of Pasadena. Also survived by several loving nieces, nephews, friends, family and the children she has cared for over the years. For those desiring, donations in her memory may be made to Cancer Society.
