Glen Burnie

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Betty Rosemond, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, who left us peacefully on August 20, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on October 15, 1936, in Fairfax, Virginia, Betty's life was a testament to love, compassion, and unwavering strength.

Betty was the beloved daughter of John Devlin and Mildred Beach. Unfortunately, Betty’s mother died when she was 5 and was raised in the St. Josephs Villa in Richmond Virginia. She received her high school education at St. Patrick’s in Richmond, where she began to develop her lifelong passion for community service and caretaking. On May 12, 1956, she married the love of her life, William “Bookie” Rosemond, with whom she shared 53 joyful years and cherished memories.

As a devoted homemaker and caregiver, Betty poured her heart into her family. She held various part-time positions throughout her life, lending her warmth and dedication as custodial staff at North Arundel Hospital and the Doll Hotel as well as a cafeteria server in Anne Arundel County Public Schools. In every role, her loving and selfless nature shone through, touching the lives of those around her.

Betty's family was her world. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, William “Bookie” Rosemond, and by her sisters, Senie Gibson and Pauline Henry. She is also mourned by the loss of her dear grandchildren, Stacy Deavers and James Deavers. In her absence, she is survived by her loving children: Dorothy “Dottie” Deavers, Teresa Kuczinski (Richard), Joanne Gavin (Jake), William “Bookie” Rosemond (Wendy), and John Rosemond (Karen-deceased). Betty also leaves behind a legacy of love through her grandchildren: David Deavers, Ron Kuczinski, Rich Kuczinski, Kate Ventura, Sarah DiGiorgio, Joe Devine, Ruby Bayle, Opal Rosemond, Pearl Rosemond, John-John Rosemond, Shawn Rosemond, and Shelby Rosemond, along with twelve great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her later years. She is further survived by her sisters, June Gough and Ellen Bailey.

An avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles and Maryland Terp Basketball, Betty found joy in the thrill of competition, often participating in NCAA basketball pools and finding herself among the top contenders. Her love for country music provided a soundtrack to many family gatherings, enriching their lives with songs that spoke to her heart.

Betty’s character was defined by her loving, caring, and selfless nature. She had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel special and valued. Her home was a gathering place, always open to family and friends, where laughter and love thrived and the food was plentiful.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life during a viewing on Friday, August 22, 2025, at Kirkley Ruddick Funeral Home from 3 PM to 7 PM. A funeral service will take place on August 23, 2025, at 11 AM at the same location in Glen Burnie, Maryland. A burial ceremony will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park in Glen Burnie Maryland.

Betty Rosemond lived a life filled with love and service. She will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends, guiding them with the love and lessons she imparted throughout her precious life. Rest in peace, Betty—you are forever in our hearts.
