Carnel Banks was born in 1947 and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He did well academically & athletically, winning a D1 scholarship in education and basketball with Montana State University in Kalispell. Adventurous, he volunteered as a "Smoke Jumper”, fighting forest fires not only in Montana, but across the northwestern U.S. Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy and completed a career spanning 22 years, fighting wars and supporting various confrontations throughout the Cold War, Southwest Asia, and the Global War On Terror. Shortly after retiring from the U.S. Navy in 1998, he became part of a newly organized team in CO-OPS, the Continuous Operational Real-Time Monitoring System (CORMS), where he excelled in operations & customer support. Carnel was especially noted for his knowledge, experience, & teaching skill and was key in resolving complex operational or personnel problems. Carnel's "winning" smile and superior interpersonal skills made him a tremendous asset in successfully completing daily operations. Carnel loved the arts & traveling. Introducing his family to new plays and parts of the world as much as he could. Not only was he a hard worker & explorer, he was a wonderful Father and Husband. Never missed a birthday, anniversary or holiday. Always went out of his way to protect and support his family. He is survived by his wife - Evangeline, son - Kenneth, and daughters - Michelle & Diana. Carnel Banks was a great and good man and will be deeply missed. May his beautiful soul rest in peace.
