Catherine Laverne Whisenant

On June 12, 2018, our beloved mother Catherine LaVerne Whisenant went peacefully to be with our Lord.  Catherine was born in Baltimore, MD, on August 4, 1928 to the late Olive Leona Meyett and Lawrence William Meyett.  She was a long time resident of Glen Burnie until the past few years residing at Oak Lodge Senior Home Assisted Living in Pasadena, MD.  She was a graduate of Southern High School.

Before retiring in 1989, she was an administrative secretary at The Mudge Paper Company in Baltimore since the early nineteen sixties.  She was a dedicated loving wife and mother to her children.  Catherine loved to sing and in her early years sang with both her school and church choirs.  In her spare time she loved to watch English soap operas; play the piano; crochet; collect salt and pepper shakers and most of all spend time with her family.  One of her greatest joys was spending time at her other home in Myrtle Beach, S.C..

Along with her parents, Catherine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Boyd C. Whisenant; her sister Anna May Erman; and her daughter Janet L. Hodges (Wayne).

She is survived by her children Cheryl L. Knepshield of Glen Burnie, MD; William B. Whisenant (Agnes) of Pasadena, MD.; Carol L. Grace (Ronnie) of Glen Burnie, MD., and stepdaughter Gwen Deal of Valdese, N.C.; along with 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

Family may receive friends on Saturday, June 16th @ Kirkley-Ruddick Funeral Home, 421 Crain Hwy. S, Glen Burnie, MD.
