Charles Joseph Ippolito, Jr. passed away surrounded by loved ones on December 29, 2025. He was born January 12, 1945 in The Bronx, NY to the late Charles J. Ippolito, Sr. and Edna D. (Knack) Ippolito. Affectionately known as "Buddy" by his family, he was an army brat who grew up in many different locations, with two of his favorites being Germany and Japan. A graduate of the University of Maryland and lifelong Terps fan, Charlie enjoyed a long and distinguished career with the federal government. He was a tremendous mentor to many and initiated and formalized the Business Management Certification Program at the agency. He loved passing on his knowledge by developing and leading training seminars. He spent most of his adult life in Ellicott City raising his children before moving to Dagsboro, DE to enjoy his retirement. Charlie was an avid sports fan, playing basketball into his adult years. He also loved coaching basketball and baseball and is a hall of fame member of the Howard County Youth Program in recognition of over 30 years of coaching and serving as commissioner. He treasured his faith and time spent with family and friends, boating, traveling, and spending time at the beach, especially his trips to Aruba. Charlie loved animals of all sizes, especially his German Shepherds, and volunteered for many years at a local horse rescue. In addition to his parents, he is preceded by his brother John B. Ippolito. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife Sheri L. (Miller) Ippolito, sons Charles Joseph Ippolito III of Greentown, PA and Joseph Thomas Ippolito of Columbia, MD, and daughters Stacy Marie Ippolito Long of Marriottsville, MD and Ashley Lauren Hill of Laurel, DE. He is also survived by his brother Robert A. Ippolito of Damascus, MD, sister Carol A. Collins of Charles Town, WV and cherished grandchildren Alexandra Elizabeth Long, Aedan Michael Long, Charles Joseph Ippolito IV, Zachary Collins Ippolito, Joshua Dennis Ippolito and Theodore Charles Ippolito.

Family and friends may visit at the KIRKLEY RUDDICK FUNERAL HOME on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Funeral service will be on Saturday, January 10, 2026, 11am, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Interment Loudon Park Cemetery.
