Charles W. Krantz

July 26, 1930 — January 8, 2010

Charles W. Chuck Krantz was born in Bath, PA to Charles and Anna Weber Krantz. He attended the Bath School and graduated from North Hampton High School in 1949. Following high school Chuck enlisted in the Army and served during the Korean Conflict. Following his time in the service, he settled in Anne Arundel County, MD after meeting his wife of 56 years, the former Elizabeth A. Aslan. He graduated from the University of MD at College Park with a B.S. in Psychology. He owned and operated Blass Drug Store in Baltimore, then he opened Chuck's Tavern in Marley which he ran until his retirement. Mr. Krantz was a member of Glen Burnie Elks Lodge #2266, American Legion Post #40, Club Fidelis (a German Club) and Glen Burnie Masonic Lodge #213. He worked as a chief judge for several elections with the Anne Arundel County Board of Elections. In his spare time Chuck enjoyed Fishing, Dancing and Trips to Austria to research his roots, where he found the graves of both his grandparents and great-grandparents.  His passion in life was his music. At his father's insistance he took accordian lessons as a child. By age 16 he was playing local events with his uncle Joe's band. Following his retirement, Chuck picked up the accordian again and played german music with his group "The Heimit Echos". They played many local events and even toured in Europe where they played in Neurenberg. In addition to his wife, Mr. Krantz is survived by his sons Charles W. Krantz, 3rd and his wife Winifred (nee Klohr) of Freeland, MD and Alan Scott Krantz of Westminster, MD. He is also survived by grandchildren Keith Krantz of Westminster and Jennifer Renee MacMahon of Red Lion, PA as well as brothers John J. and Alfred Krantz of Bath, PA and Edward M. Krantz of Glen Burnie, MD and sister Gloria Rios of Nazareth, PA He passed away peacefully at Baltimore Washington Medical Center after a long struggles with physical ailments.
