Obituary

Dixie Harris Wright, 83, of Millersville, passed away under hospice care on July 12, 2026, with his wife by his side.

Born in Eastman, Georgia, on February 17, 1943, he was the son of Dixie and Marcelle (Rice) Wright. After graduating from high school, Dixie honorably served his country in the United States military. He later attended college, completing much of the coursework toward his Bachelor’s Degree, and went on to dedicate many years of service as an electrical engineer for the government.

Dixie was a man of steadfast character and generous spirit. A longtime and devoted member of Elvaton Baptist Church, he frequently offered his time and talents to support the congregation and the associated school, particularly by managing computer and technology upgrades. A man of many interests, Dixie was a lifelong member of the NRA and found great pleasure in target practice. He was also in the local sports community, where he was involved in his children's youth sports, particularly coaching softball.

Dixie is preceded in death by his parents, Dixie and Marcelle (Rice) Wright; and his daughter, Delaine W. Rollson. He is survived by his wife, Bernice (Dixon) Wright; his son, David Wright (Terri); his brother, Lamar Wright (Becky); his 4 grandchildren; and his 3 great grandchildren.
