Doretta Elizabeth nee Farinholt Law, 96,of Heritage Habour, Annapolis, formerly of Linthicum Heights, died Friday July 15th..

Born  1919 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Elsie Doretta (Hueg) Farinholt. She was preceded in death by her brother Kenneth Farinholt and her grandson Timothy Williamson. She was the former wife of Fred A. Law of Ferndale.  She is survived by her three daughters, Lynda & her husband Bill Martens of Chapel Hill, NC, Patricia & her husband Frank Williamson of Deep Creek Lake, MD, and Susan Law of Annapolis. She survived by 3 grandchildren, Kim and Chris Martens, and Jane Williamson, 3 great grandchildren Nadja, Jade and Lara. Also she is survived by her sister-in-law Lillian Farinholt.

Doretta was a school teacher in Anne Arundel County  for 25 years. She taught at Ridgeway, Jacobsville, Germantown  elementary schools. As a life time member of Girl Scouts and leader for 30 years, she loved the out of doors. She enjoyed camping, backpacking, hiking, and biking. She was accomplished basketmaker. Her other hobbies included cooking, baking, quilting, painting, and herb gardening. When she lost her sight due to macular degeneration, she became an avid listener of audio books.  Her love of travel took her to 47 states,20 countries and 5 continents. Her daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren enjoyed many travel adventures with her.

She was a member of St. John Evangelical Church. She was a former member of NC Basket Association, Friendly Thyme Herb Club, and Eternal and Friendship Quilt Clubs. She was a graduate of Glen Burnie High School class of 1937 and University of Maryland class of 1974.

Friends will be received at Kirkley Ruddick Funeral Home 4pm to 7 Sunday July 17. Her memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, make a donation to Girl Scouts of Central Maryland or if you would prefer do a good deed or commit a random act of kindness in her honor. Doretta made an impact on many lives and she had an enormous heart.
