Born Doris V. Davis in New York, New York on December 6, 1931 to William Davis and Emily Virginia Davis (nee Arnold). Mrs. Dotson was educated at the nursing school of Boston General Hospital in Roxbury, Mass. She worked as a nurse at several nursing homes in the area including Maryland Manor (now Millenium Health Care), Glen Burnie Health & Rehab., Wyman Park Health Center and Pleasant Manor Nursing Home. She served as a volunteer at Baltimore Washington Medical Center and the Glen Square Senior Housing Center. Doris was a member of the Finance Committee of Holy Trinity Catholic Church where she was a member as well as St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Baltimore. In her spare time Doris enjoyed walking; she was a member of the Marley Mall Walkers, Pinnocle, Travel, Trips to Atlantic City and caring for plants. She passed away peacefully at Johns Hopkins Hospital surrounded by her family following a brief illness.

In addition to her parents, she is preceeded in death by her step-father Charles Freeman and her husband Edwin Everett Dotson. She is survived by her stepson Rodney Dotson of Glen Burnie, Brothers Charles A. Freeman of Randallstown, Albert Logan of Baltimore, Gregory Howard of Hampton, VA, Reginald Howard of Richmond, VA and sisters Pat Flanagan of Baltimore, Melva Quick of Baltimore, Bonita Renee Freeman of Baltimore and Deborah Mitchell of Cedonia, MD. She is also the step-grandmother of Tanay Dotson and the sister in law of Vivian Hall, Sylvia Jackson & Jeanine Cummings. Doris is also the beloved aunt and great-aunt of Shawn Howard, Markiya Quick, Devron Jones, Octavius Anderson, Tamika Loney, Brandon Gross, Tanya Howard, Emilika V. Howard, Iris Howard, Makayla Jones, Dejah Jones, Devron Jones, Jr., Maya Gaines, Ian Gaines-Hardy, Kennedy Gaines, Quandra Gaines, Robert N. Gaines, Jr., Robert N. Gaines, 3rd., Leah Gaines, Wendy Askew, Brandon Gross, Jr., Jamare White, Teyon White, Jayla White and Raquel Freeman. She is also survived by a host of other loving relatives.
