Dorothy J. Bateman

Born Dorothy J. Pauley on February 14, 1935 in McDowell County, WV to the late Carl F. and Mary (Sullivan) Pauley and a resident of Marion, SC for several months after living in Severn since 1987. She worked at National Plastics in Odenton prior to her retirement. She enjoyed music, singing, attending family sporting events, watching ID Network, trips to the county fare and the beach, coffee and Maryland crab cakes, preparing holiday meals for her family. She treasured time spent with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Robert Francis Batemen, daughter Donna Knotts, brother Carl Pauley, sisters Hazel Parmer, Mary Gwinn, Lois Tart and Maxine Hicks as well as son in law James Hager. Left to cherish her memory are children Richard Knotts of MD, Jerry Knotts and his wife Cindy of PA, Carol Hager of Marion, SC, Angela Dearing of Martinsburg, WV and her husband Justin, Lisa Starr of Marion, SC and her wife Angel Hill, brothers John Pauley of Eldersburg, Raymond Pauley of Crisfield, Junior Pauley of NC and sister Ann Lemaster of Florida. She is also survived by grandchildren Amber Downey, Easton, Layla and Lydia Dearing.  She passed away peacefully at Regency Southern Care Hospice in Florence, SC on January 24, 2020
