DOROTHY FRIZZELLE, 90
Dorothy Amelia (Croxton) Frizzelle went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 31, 2021 following a long illness. Dorothy (Dot) was the fifth child born to James Marvin Croxton and Elsie Virginia (Balderson) Croxton of Haynesville, VA on September 27, 1930. She was a truly remarkable woman. As a teenager, Dorothy had to quit high school to tend to her younger siblings and work on the family farm. The following year she convinced her father to allow her to return to school and was able to complete her junior and senior years of high school in a single year to graduate with her peers. In 1947 she married James Thomas Frizzelle. They had four children and lived in several different states due to her husband's military career.
Dorothy returned to school and graduated at age 52 with a degree in nursing. She worked as a nurse in various capacities until she retired in 2009. However, Dorothy's lifelong devotion was to teach others the word of God. She formally pastored for the Church of God since 1960 but she also counseled those in need, substituted for other pastors, served as the pastor of ladies' ministry, and evangelized whenever she had the opportunity. She loved to travel and even had the opportunity to preach in Israel on the Mount of Olives. In 2020 she was recognized by the Church of God for 60 years of service.
Dorothy was predeceased by her parents; her husband, James T. Frizzelle; siblings James Albert, Buddy, Sis, Lucille, Emory, Margaret, Rachel, and Mitchell.
She is survived by a brother, Linwood (Carol) Croxton of SC. She is also survived by her beloved children: Sharon Srebro of NY, Gloria Frizzelle of MD, James T. Frizzelle, Jr. of FL, and Donna (Jim) Adams of GA. She leaves 6 grandchildren: Jennifer (Larry) Pike, Jamie (Sang) Frizzelle, Jeremy Srebro, David (Khris) Wilson, Racheal (Anthony) Thirouin, Madison Adams, and two step grandsons: Travis Adams, and Tyler Adams. She will be remembered fondly by her great-grandchildren Sydney, Daniel, Vera, Joey, Nadia, Elaina, Katherine, DJ, Anya, Lilia, and Anthony Jr., and step great-granddaughters Rebecca and Leah.
