Dorothy Louise (Ramper) Wood, 94, Glen Burnie resident since 1960, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Thursday, May 2, 2024. Dorothy was born on Sunday, October 27, 1929, in Youngstown, Ohio, to John Ramper and Ann (Sedlacko) Ramper. She graduated from Robertsdale High School in 1948 and was a waitress at several local restaurants; Siegerts, International Hotel and Michael's Eighth Avenue, to name a few. She married the love of her life, Bert, in 1950, and they started their beautiful family. She was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, belonged to the Pascal Senior Center and was a Senior Strider. Dorothy was a people person who loved to travel and be around her friends; cruising, walking or just talking. She also enjoyed her puzzle books and was an animal lover her entire life. She will be missed by so many.
Dorothy is preceded by her parents, John Ramper and Ann (Sedlacko) Ramper; her husband, Bert Jack Wood; her son, Michael Lynn Wood; and her siblings, James Ramper, Donald Ramper, Robert Ramper, Marianne Dickenson and Betty Miller. She is survived by her daughters, Judy Barger (Gregory) of Eldersburg and Shawn Hall (Willy) of Glen Burnie; her sister, Jean Wisher (Richard) of Pennsylvania; her grandchildren, Shelby Bakalski, Shayna Schikner, Jamie Barger and Erin Brady; and her two great grandchildren, Jeremy Lapp and Anthony Brady.
Family and friends may visit at the KIRKLEY RUDDICK FUNERAL HOME on Friday, May 10, 2024, 10am - 11am. Funeral service to follow immediately, 11am. Interment Glen Haven Memorial Park.
