Funeral services for Elmer Wayne Boteler (Sonny) age 66 of Glen Burnie, will be held at Kirkley-Ruddick Funeral Home, 421 Crain Highway S.E., Glen Burnie on Wednesday, 11am. Mr. Boteler passed away suddenly on October 9, 2013 at his residence. Born February 21, 1947 in Riverdale, Maryland. He graduated from Northwestern High School (Hyattsville) in 1965. After attending the University of Maryland he enlisted in the U.S. Army rising to the rank of Captain prior to his discharge. Mr. Boteler retired as a supervisor from Mack Trucks Parts Distribution Center after 30 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #276 in Severn and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 160 in Glen Burnie. Along with being a proficient pool player his hobbies included bowling, golf, following Nascar, Baltimore Ravens, Washington Redskins, Baltimore Orioles and Maryland Terps. He also enjoyed playing Keno while socializing with his many friends. Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Clara Boteler and a brother, Charles Boteler. Survivors include three daughters, Karen Riley, Theresa Boteler and Dawn LaForge, all from Glen Burnie and one son, David Boteler from Pasadena; along with eight grandchildren. His surviving siblings include two sisters, Betty Robertson of Middletown, Maryland and Peggy Risdon of Tampa, Florida.
