Ernestina Chumbeh Njie

Ernestina Chumbeh Njie, lovingly known as “Chumbeh Lumbus,” “kiddo,” and “Chums”, passed
away on Sunday, April 21, 2024, in Washington, DC, USA. She was born on Friday, October 31,
1980, in Banjul, The Gambia, to The Late Eliman Njie and Grace B. Daniels-Njie. Ernestina was
a dedicated, and exceptional administrative assistant. She was smart, lovable, bubbly and was
known to "light up the room" when she entered it. She was sociable, loved to interact with
people, and people loved her. She was charming and her radiant smile and easy-going
personality brought people closer to her, a personality that will be deeply missed. In her
formative years, Ernestina was in the choir at the Foundry Methodist Church in Washington, DC,
which gave her a unique opportunity to sing at the United States White House.

Ernestine is preceded by her father, Eliman Njie. She is survived by her beloved son, William E.
Njie, her mother, Grace B. Daniels-Njie; her siblings, Yvonne T. Njie, William A. Njie, Madi E.
Njie, Ablie Njie, Alasan Njie, and Veronica P.S. Njie-Carr, aunts, uncles, and many nieces, and
nephews in the Gambia and abroad.

Families and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Kirkley Ruddick Funeral Home
at 421 Crain Hwy S.E, Glen Burnie, MD 21061 on May 18, 2024, at 9:30 am. The service to
celebrate Ernestina’s life will follow at 11:00 am at the Christ the King Catholic Church
located on 7436 Baltimore- Annapolis Blvd. Glen Burnie, MD 21061. Interment at Glen
Haven Memorial Park - 7231 Ritchie Hwy Suite E, Glen Burnie, MD 21061.

Ernestina Chumbeh Njie will be sorely missed by all who knew her and the many lives she
touched. May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace and rise in glory. Amen
