Florence Christine Foss Kelley, age 91, passed away at her home in Glen Burnie, MD on Tuesday, June 20, 2017. She was born on April 8, 1926 in Relay, MD to George Edward and Helen Marie (Bowers) Foss. On July 16, 1949, she married her childhood sweetheart and best friend, Frederick Ridgely Kelley; together they raised three children. After graduating from Catonsville High School and Strayer Business College, Flo worked at Westinghouse, and then later as a special education aide at several elementary schools. She was an active member of Glen Burnie United Methodist church for over sixty years, where she served on numerous committees and prepared countless funeral luncheons. She was also a faithful member of the Glen Burnie Improvement Association and Young at Heart. After retiring from Pasadena Elementary School in 1988, she enjoyed spending much of her time with family and friends. Some of her favorite pastimes were herb gardening, stopping at every yard sale she passed, and beating her grandchildren at Phase Ten and Skipbo card games.
She is survived by her children, Barbara (Wayne) Coblentz of Marshfield, WI, Brian (Brenda) Kelley of Baltimore, and Linda (Bob) Marsch of Glen Burnie; eight grandchildren, David (Chelsea) Coblentz of Edmunds, WA, Elizabeth Coblentz of Richmond, KY, Laura (Nathan) Woody of Longmont, CO, Katharine Coblentz of Longmont, CO, Emily Kelley of Relay, Lee Kelley of Federalsburg, Christopher (Jennifer) Marsch and Ryan (Tina) Marsch of Glen Burnie; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Helen Koontz and Carol Copple. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings George and Kenneth Foss and Charlotte Everly.
Arrangements were made by Kirkley-Ruddick Funeral Home. The family would like to extend our gratitude to the nursing staff of Hospice of the Chesapeake for their loving care.
