Frederick J. Smith was born in Philadelphia, PA on July 11, 1925 to the late Henry H. and Elsie L. Smith. Fred proudly served in the United States Navy from 1942 – 1946 during World War II. After leaving the Navy Mr. Smith worked as a printer for George W. King Printing. He married the love of his life, Marlyn O. (Hill) Smith and had two daughters. He was a member of Linthicum United Methodist Church, VFW, and Graphic Art Union. In his free time, Fred enjoyed playing golf, going bowling, taking trips to the beach with his family and going to Chick-fil-a. He loved playing cards with his family.
Fred passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Rebecca Fortney Inpatient Center on February 7, 2020. In addition to his parents, his brother Wesley Smith also preceded Fred in death. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 70 years Marlyn, daughter Pamela A. Burck and her husband Bob of Glen Burnie, daughter Debra A. Smith of Linthicum, brother Henry Smith of Sparks, granddaughter Kelly Sopel, grandson Robert E. Burck III and his wife Chrissy, and four great-grandchildren. Fred will be missed by many and forgotten by none.

Private services will be held with honors at Crownsville MD Veterans Cemetery.
