Friedrich "Fritz" A. Gessert

Friedrich A. Gessert, "Fritz", 91, former resident of Glen Burnie, died peacefully on Monday, March 30, 2015 in the care of the Charlestown Retirement Community. Fritz was born December 17, 1923 to the late Friedrich Adolf and the late Anna (Wischert) Gessert in Hamburg, Germany. He moved from Germany in 1953 settling in Baltimore and in 1957 moved to Glen Burnie. Fritz worked as a pipe fitter for Western Electric for 17 years until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of Point Breeze Telephone Pioneer, a club associated with Western Electric. He also was a member of the board and very active with the Baltimore Kicker Soccer Club for several years. Fritz liked to read but had a true love for gardening. He is preceded by his parents; his wife, Waltraut "Hanna" J. (Grunsdorf) Gessert; son, Winfred "Fred" Gessert and brother, Arthur Gessert. He is survived by his daughters, Hanna Wall of Stevensville, Karen Gessert Evelius of Towson; siblings, Gertrude Rudiger of Germany, Franz Gessert of Germany; grandchildren, Kurt and Keith Wall and great grandchildren, Aurora Pierce and Davison Wall.
