Mr. George Perez, Sr. was born in Puerto Rico on October 26, 1925 to the late Jose and Maria Perez. George proudly served in the United States Navy. After he retired from the military, George spent 20 years working for the Maryland State Police until he retired in 1991. He moved from Brooklyn to Glen Burnie in 1976. He was a member and past commander of the American Legion Post #40, a member and past commander of V.F.W. Post #2916 in Brooklyn, U.S. Navy Mine Warfare Association, past president of the F.O.P Lodge 29 in Baltimore, a life member of the Marine Corps League and Masonic Lodge #213. In his spare time, George enjoyed going fishing and shooting.
Mr. George Perez, Sr. passed away on February 23, 2021 at North Arundel Health and Rehabilitation Center. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his beloved wife Stella V. Perez in 1996, son George Perez, Jr. earlier this month, and sister Ida Gomez. Those left to cherish his memory are his sons Stephen Perez of Florida, Robert Perez of Severn, daughter-in-law Helen Perez of Glen Burnie, sister Edith Koontz of Westminster, grandchildren Damien and Briana Perez and great-grandchild Mariah Perez.
Friends may call from 2-4 PM on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at the family owned Kirkley-Ruddick Funeral Home, 421 Crain Hwy SE, Glen Burnie, MD 21061. Interment will be at 10:45 A.M. on Thursday, March 4, 2021 in Crownsville MD Veterans Cemetery.
