Born Germaine Katherine Lubien in Chicago, IL on November 12, 1923 to Albert and Harriett Lubien (nee Schomisch). She was a resident of Maryland since 1961 living in Glen Burnie for most of that time. A homemaker, Mrs. Huizinga was an active member of Church of the Good Shepherd where she was a member of the Sodality and a CCD Teacher. An avid gardener, her husband built her a greenhouse for their anniversary. She also enjoyed listening to music and cherished time spent with her family. Her daughter described her as a "person with a kind, loving and generous heart ." In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Arys Henry Huizinga,granddaughter Sarah and brothers James and John Lubien. Germaine is survived by her son Steven A. Huizinga of Glen Burnie, daughters Catherine A. Parker and her husband James and Mary E. DeTota and her husband Louis, both of Elkridge. She is also survived by Daughter in Law Beverly Huizinga, brother Jerome Lubien of Brookfield, IL, sisters Geane Lubien and Grace Jones of Belvedere, IL, Patricia Biggus of McHenry, IL, Margaret "Peggy" Folster of Il. She will be missed by cherished grandchild Stacy Huizinga and great grandchildren Emily Rose Crabtree, Ethan A. Huizinga Kelly and Cooper Michael Kelly. She passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Nursing Home in Catonsville where she had resided for the last 2 years.
