Godfrey Thomas Neuenschwander

July 28, 1940 — April 17, 2020

Pasadena

Godfrey Thomas Neuenschwander was born July 28, 1940 in Daviess County, Kentucky to the late Arthur and Margaret (nee Daniel) Neuenschwander and has lived in the Glen Burnie/Pasadena area for the past 58 years.  Tom dedicated his life to music education, having taught for Anne Arundel County Public Schools for forty-five years as a music educator.  During that time, he shared his love of music with the students of Corkran Jr. High School, Northeast High School, Chesapeake High School and Brooklyn Park Elementary School.  Outside of the classroom, he actively participated in his churchs’ music programs as a choir member and director as well as an organist.  He demonstrated his passion for handbells by starting countless handbell programs at several local churches, schools and senior centers.  Yet not all of Tom’s passions were music related.  Tom was known for his Christian faith, his love of Siamese cats including his beloved Meezer, Abigail, and Cy-Cy, his appreciation of other cultures, his demand for excellence, his remarkable memory, and his devotion to his family. Those left to carry on his memory include his sister, Patricia Koller of Henderson, KY, his children, D. Bradley (and Beth) Neuenschwander, Amy E. Neuenschwander, Zambak (and Ornela) Gjuta, and Joyce Levin, companion Judy Engelmeyer, and eight grandchildren: Steven, Jacob and Molly Sherman, Isaac and Jadon Neuenschwander, Zev Levin-Pilafian, and Brandon and Cristian Gjuta. When it is safe to gather, a celebration of life will be held in Tom’s honor.
