Gracie Lorraine Kearney, 87, died peacefully at her home on September 3, 2019 surrounded by loving family. Born July 2, 1932 to John and Grace Hand, Grace was a life-long resident of Maryland. “Gracie” as she was known by her friends and family was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Bill Kearney, Sr. Gracie is survived by her three children: Andrea, Bill, and Belynda; her ten grandchildren: Kelli, Patrick, Katelyn, Alyse, Erin, Zachary, Emily, Molly, Harley and Jenny; her ten and 1/2 great-grandchildren: Kacie, Ava, Abby, Jackson, Scarlett, Madelyn, Max, Ashton, Roarke, Emma, and (soon to be) Chase; the spouses of her children and grandchildren: Russell, Kim, Timothy, John, Kristen, Terry, Chris, & Melissa; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; and grand puppies: Rogue, Bear, Mason and Belmont. Gracie worked for the State of Maryland as a supervisor of the purchasing department. She was a dedicated Christian and lifetime member of the Episcopal and Anglican Churches, a Girl Scout leader, and a former Sunday school teacher and superintendent. Gracie was wholeheartedly devoted to her family. She enjoyed spending time with family in her summer home (“the country”), cooking, sewing, crafting, solving crossword puzzles, drawing, painting, bird watching and telling scary stories. She also enjoyed watching classical musicals and westerns and attending professional (and not-so-professional) theater productions. Although she will be sorely missed by those who loved her, we celebrate that she is now; having placed her trust in Jesus, completely at peace, healed and whole, and reunited with those loved ones that have gone before her. Gracie’s legacy of love and laughter will live in our memories until we are reunited with her once again.
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7
