Gregory William Gildark was born Feb. 28, 1948 in Baltimore, MD to Vincent W. and Josephine Gildark (nee Manieri). Mr. Gildark served with the Navy as a Seabee during two tours of service in Vietnam. He was awarded the Marine Combat Insignia for his bravery in battle. Following his time in the service he graduated from San Diego State College with a degree in law enforcement. He served with the Baltimore Police Dept. as well as the San Diego Police Dept. where he helped establish the first battered women's shelter. Mr. Gildark also worked in logistics for BG&E and Constellation Energy. He lived in Severn from the 70's until 2001 when he moved to Baltimore County and then to Mount Jackson, Virginia where resided for the past 4 years. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW. His true passion in life was fitness. An avid runner he was a Senior Olympian and a certified personal trainer. He was a boxer in both the Navy and the Police Dept., winning his last match at age 39 to an opponent half his age. He also enjoyed fishing and just being out in nature. Gregory also treasured time spent with his family. He passed away unexpectedly on April 23, 2012 at his home. He is survived by his beloved wife Yoshiko; his loving children Jennifer White, Amanda Gildark, Daniel Gildark and Gregory Gildark; caring brothers Joseph and Damian Gildark. He is also survived by his grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
