Hal E. Dunn

October 19, 1958 — November 14, 2023

Glen Burnie

Suddenly, on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, Hal E. Dunn, 65, Glen Burnie resident, died peacefully in his home. Hal was born in upstate New York on Sunday, October 19, 1958, to Harold J. and Audrey Katherine. Hal graduated from Glen Burnie High School and joined the Air Force soon after. Hal married his wife Katherine in 1981. The young family was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, NV where Hal specialized in aircraft maintenance. After discharging from the Air Force and returning to Maryland, Hal turned his talent for fixing things into a long career as a maintenance technician. He joined Henderson Webb Inc. and was a dedicated employee for over 30+ years. While he enjoyed his job, it was the people that became lifelong friends that kept him with the company for so long.

Always a jokester, Hal could put a smile on anyone’s face. His go-to line when a server at a restaurant asked if there was anything else they could get for him was always “A million bucks and a red-head!” While those that knew him saw him as a big teddy bear, he definitely used his tall stature and “threatening” size to playfully scare a few boys through the years, as any girl dad should. His son-in-laws certainly remember the first time they met Hal and can laugh about it now! Hal shared his love of British TV and movies, sci-fi shows, and military history with his family. A good book about any of those was always a safe gift idea for him. More recently, you might find Hal going out to see live music locally when he wanted to get out of the house.

Hal is preceded in death by his father, Harold J., his wife, Katherine Ann and his brother-in-law, Edward Cline. He is survived by his mother, Audrey Katherine; his children, Jennifer Marie Brown (Dane) of Arnold, Heather Christine Cox (Joseph) of Bel Air and Ridge Dunn of Glen Burnie; his siblings, Jay Dunn of Atlanta, Georgia, Michelle Mellen (Glenn) of Deland, Florida and Audrey Catherine Cline of Canisteo, New York and his grandchildren, Abigail, Elliana, Edison, Everett, Landry and Ezra.
