Harry C. Wagner, Jr.

March 10, 1947 — September 20, 2020

Glen Burnie

Harry Chris “Chip” Wagner, Jr. was born March 10, 1947 in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Harry Chris Wagner, Sr. and Helen Hales Wagner.  After being married to his beloved wife Marcia Ann Wagner for 52 years, they were only apart for 52 days before being reunited in heaven.  At the age of 16, Chip joined the Chestnut Ridge Volunteer Fire Company, the first step in a fire service career that would span more than 57 years.  At the age of 21, Chip married the love of his life, Marcia, and was hired as a Baltimore City career firefighter.  He continued to volunteer with the Lutherville Volunteer Fire Company.  Chip and Marcia soon welcomed two beautiful daughters and the family moved to Severn, where Chip began to volunteer with the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company (OVFC).  Chip and Marcia were both active at the OVFC, where they are both well known for starting the funnel cake stand at the annual carnival.  Chip eventually rose to the rank of Chief at the OVFC, and retired from the Baltimore City Fire Department after a distinguished 35 year career.  Chip enjoyed camping, painting, working around his house and, most of all, spending time with his grandchildren.

Harry Chris Wagner, Jr. (73) passed away peacefully at Futurecare Chesapeake in Arnold, MD on September 20, 2020. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters Jenifer L. Dooley and her husband Michael of Littlestown, PA and Susan W. Hartley and her husband Jon of Severna Park, his brother Michael and wife Nancy of White Hall and sister Janet Kemp and her late husband Gene of Owings. Mills.  He is also survived by adoring grandchildren Allison Robinson, Nicholas Dooley, Rachel Hartley and Kara Hartley as well as great-grandchild Rhett Robinson. Harry was a loving brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company (ovfc28.org/support/) or the Tate Cancer Center at University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center (umms.org/bwmc/giving).
