James Alexander Parker

James Alexander Parker, 73, an Elkridge resident, died on July 19, 2026, during the night, his wife was soon by his side. James had been receiving excellent care at the St. Joseph's Nursing Home in Catonsville, until he passed. He was born on May 21, 1953, in Ft. Meade, to Charles Michael Conrad and Laura May (Settles) Parker. While attending Glen Burnie High School, James showed his leadership skills as president of the Junior Suburbia Civic Association and organizing various fundraisers. He held many jobs afterward, including underwater construction, as a jewelry caster for his diamond setting cousin who worked in the Philadelphia jewelry district and his last job was as a union trade show carpenter for companies he had previously worked for in house. When he wasn't working, he was still helping with projects, always assisting someone and keeping busy. He completed numerous building projects around the house, a constant reminder of his dedication and creativity. He loved riding his bike and went on many long distance adventures. He also loved to walk his dogs in Patapsco State Park and as a child had camped there often with his family.

In his younger years, he enjoyed shooting pool; his team ranked 44th out of hundreds of teams that competed in the American Pool Players Association (APA) national tournament in Las Vegas. He loved to eat but always did the dishes. James was a creator and an artist; paintings of nature hang throughout the house. And of course he loved the annual trips to Ocean City with the family. So many memories were made with Kate by his side, and the family will greatly miss him.

James is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Michael Conrad and Laura May (Settles) Parker; and his brothers, Michael Gene Parker and William Conrad Parker and nephew Eric Michael Parker. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Catherine Ann (Huizinga); his siblings, Linda Lee Parker, Gary Richard Fuchs and Laura Rebecca Parker; his sister-in-laws Mary Detota, Diane Fuchs and Berverly Huizinga and brother-in-laws Steve Huizinga and Bill Osborne. He also is survived by all his beloved nieces and nephews whom he cherished dearly. 

Family and friends may visit at the KIRKLEY RUDDICK FUNERAL HOME on Monday, July 27th, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Another visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 29th, at the Chapel at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home, from 11am - 12pm. Funeral service to follow immediately at 12pm. Interment Glen Haven Memorial Park.
