James Coleman Shoemaker

On February 14, 2009, James Coleman Shoemaker passed away at the age of 80.  Born on August 1, 1928 in North Carolina, Coleman was a resident of Glen Burnie for 45 years.  Beloved husband of 58 years to the late Betty D. Shoemaker; Devoted father of Bobbie Jane Rubright of Glen Burnie and Mark C. Shoemaker of Pennsylvania; Loving brother of Edna Seymour of Florida and Norma Watson of Maryland and the late Bobbie and Oscar Shoemaker; Cherished grandfather of Whitney and Kelsey Myra Rubright, Coleman Punte, Tracy Gunn, Courtney Wilfong and Ryan, Chelsea, Jared and Leah Shoemaker; Adoring great-grandfather of Emily Parsons, Kayden Punte and Jesse, Randi and Markie-Lynn Gunn.

Coleman served his country as a member of the United States Navy.  He then worked as a supervisor for Domino Sugar until he retired.  Coleman was a member of the Riverside Baptist Church and was active in their ministry to the homeless.  He enjoyed golfing, hunting, coaching baseball when his son was little, and attending his granddaughter's dance recitals.  He enjoyed watching the Orioles and the Ravens.  Most especially, he loved spending time with his family.
