James Sowden Sr.

Born November 16, 1946 in Seattle, Washington to Jerry F. and Elizabeth Sowden (nee Collier) Mr. Sowden has lived in Millersville, MD since 2005 after living 12 years on the Eastern Shore and Millersville prior to that. Mr. Sowden had owned Thrifty Muffler Center in Annapolis for 18 Years and Champion Auto Repair in Chester for 12 Years. Recently he had worked as a customer service rep. with NAPA Auto Parts. He served his country in the Navy from 1966-1970 serving in Viet Nam. An avid football fan, he was a past president of the Council of Colt Corals. Mr. Sowden is also past president of the Queen Anne Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Kent Island Lions Club, American Legion Post #278, Bay Country Moose Lodge. In his spare time he enjoyed Crabbing, Boating, NASCAR and most important to him spending time with his family. Jim is survived by his wife Nancy Sowden (nee Wheeler) of Millersville, sons James Sowden, Jr. of Centreville and James T. Branzell of Friendship, daughters Cindy Castle-Behlert of Millersville and Elizabeth P. Miller of Severn, brother Jerry T. Sowden of Channelview, TX and sister Judith L. Farrer of Wadsworth, TX Mr. Sowen is also survived by 6 loving grandchildren. He past away peacefully in his home after an illness of several months.
