Jennifer Lynn McDermott, 34, of Glen Burnie, passed on the evening of Sunday, May 21, 2023.
Jennifer, known by her loved ones as Jenny, was born on May 17th, 1989 in Baltimore, Maryland to Jill (Barton) Michaels and Douglas White. She was raised by Jill and Gilbert Michaels with love and support from many caring family members and friends. She was raised alongside her siblings, Timothy Buchanan, Jessica Michaels Wolfe, and Douglas White Jr., as well as her lifelong friends Steve Canoles, Amanda Hatch, and Robert Nicholas. Her memory will be cherished by her two boys, Jayden and Carter Beach, her niece, Zoe Wolfe and nephew, Nilo White, and grandparents Kitty and Jack Barton.
Jenny’s generous heart and unending love for people drew her to pursue career paths that would allow her to do the most good for others. After graduating from Glen Burnie High School in 2007, Jenny attended AACC where she studied Emergency Medical Services and received her EMT license. During this time, she worked as a volunteer firefighter and server. She later attended UMBC where she studied Psychology and Social Welfare and earned her BA in December of 2020. Nothing could slow Jenny down, not even a pandemic. When she set forth to accomplish something, she succeeded.
Her life was filled with fun, adventure, creativity, and competition. Jenny grew up playing softball and soccer for Harundale Youth Sports League, and cheering for the Rebels, Twisters, and GBHS. Jenny did not just participate in sports; she dominated. Her competitive spirit and natural talent led her to be a freshman on the F5, the senior cheer squad for the Twisters, with whom she won the world’s competition two years in a row. Jenny stayed involved in sports as her boys were growing up, being both a team mom and coach for their soccer and basketball teams. She loved being a boy mom and including JT and CJ in her adventures. They would go on Savage Races, snowboard, camp, and many other outdoor activities. In her free time (not that she had any), Jenny would create and share the beauty she made with everyone. She made gorgeous wreaths, fun t-shirts, and decorated parties better than most could imagine.
The center of her life was soaking in time with family and friends. Jenny loved spontaneous karaoke dance parties, Disney trivia (and no other trivia), and just sharing wine and laughter with her mom or beer and hugs with her dad.
Jenny’s joy for life and personality never dulled and neither will her memory.
