Born Jessie Marie Hawkins in Baltimore, MD on February 29, 1928 to James Lewis Hawkins and Nillie A. DeBaufre Hawkins. She worked as a secretary for her husband's electical business. Jessie live in the Glen Burnie area before moving to Ft. Myers, FL in 1977. She returned to Maryland several months ago. A member of Messiah Lutheran Church in North Ft. Myers, FL, she was an active in the church. Mrs. Slivecky was an avid volunteer, donating her time and talents to Lee Memorial Hospital, Cape Coral Hospital, The American Cancer Society and many other orginizations through her church. She previously has taught Kindergarten at St. Paul's Lutheran Church when she lived in Glen Burnie. She also enjoyed Reading, Word Puzzles, Arts and Crafts as well as being an excellent seamstress. She passed away peacefully at Carroll County Medical Center following a brief illness. In addition to her parents, Jessie is preceeded in death by her husband Howard Charles Slivecky who died in 1989. Survivors include her daughters Kathleen M. Moenius of Glen Burnie and Linda Jean Goldberg of Valencia, CA sisters Nellie Wenzel of Glen Burnie, Joyce Strine of Minnesota and Lucille Cantrell of Pasadena. She is also survived by 7 loving grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
