She was born Jessie R. Detress on October 23, 1938 in Baltimore, MD to the late Jesse Detress and Anna Schultz Rubenstein. She is a lifetime resident of the area and has lived in Glen Burnie for many years. A graduate of Southern High in Baltimore, she worked in inventory control for Montgomery Ward during her working life. She was an active member of Streetlight Christian Fellowship in Brooklyn and she was active in their food distribution program. The pantry was referred to as Jessie’s room. She was an excellent baker, well known for her Christmas cookies, Easter eggs and other sweet treats. Jessie also enjoyed crocheting, working in the garden, casino trips to Delaware and watching her Oriole games.
She is preceded by her six sisters and 2 brothers. Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 48 Years Arlington H. “Buzz” Valdivia, her son Michael C. Lattanzia (Sara), cherished grandchildren Michael C. Lattanzia, Jr. (Sarah), Jessica Murray (Kyle), Shayne McIntyre (Shannon) and great-grandchild Brielle Murray.
