Born Jo A. Magee on April 1, 1934 in Baltimore, MD to the late Frederick John Magee and Anna “Molly” Lemons Magee. A lifetime resident of Linthicum, she was a graduate of Glen Burnie High School. She was previously the outreach pastor at Heritage Community Church where she ministered in prisons, nursing homes and colleges. Jo enjoyed caring for her farm animals, watching the Hallmark Channel, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents she is preceded by her husband John R. West, her son Jay Gibson, brothers Vernon and Frederick “Buzz” Magee and sisters Evelyn Shilow and Margaret “Peggy” Lewis. Left to cherish her memory are her sons Joe Gibson, Sr. (Kathy) and Jimmy West (Shelly), daughter in law Debbie Gibson, sister Sharon Michele Smardon and grandchildren Joe Gibson, Jr., Jay Gibson, Jeffrey Gibson, Virginia Kendall, Shane Cook, Jessica and Jamie West. She is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. West passed away peacefully at the Rebecca Fortney Inpatient Care Center of Hospice of the Chesapeake.
