Joe Miller

August 15, 1940 — May 13, 2014

Anthony Joseph Miller, Jr., known as Joe Miller, passed away on May 13, 2014 surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer. Joe was borne in the Westport community of Baltimore to the late Anthony Joseph Miller, Sr. and Stella Virginia Miller (nee Wenck). He worked for John Hopkins University until 2000 when he retired. After retirement he was an active volunteer for the WW II Honor Flights, Pathfinders at BWI, and Kinder Farm Park where he had his own little vegetable garden. Mr. Miller was a proud family man who enjoyed being with his family and friends. His many interest included traveling, gardening, reading, and going to the Breakfast Shop as the leader of "The Breakfast Club" each Friday morning with his brother, brother-in-laws and friend. He was a huge Raven fan; but what he enjoyed most about going to the Raven games was tailgating with his family member and friends. In his younger years he enjoyed crabbing and fishing with his dad. Joe is survived by his wife of 47 years, Joyce Miller (nee Vataha); daughters, Andrea Shah, Laura and Tracy Miller-Lyman; brother, Richard Miller; sisters, Janet Bemkey and Denise Carrick; grandchildren Abby Shah, Tristan Shad, Jackson Miller-Lyman, and Charlotte Miller-Lyman.
