John F. Baker, III., was born at home in West Port, at 2203 Cedley Street, Baltimore, Maryland on January 23, 1935, to John Frank and Ruth Mary (Nieman) Baker, Jr. John attended public schools in Baltimore City; Patterson Park High, Eastern High and Baltimore College of Commence. He later attended ICS of Pennsylvania after serving in the military. John was like his Dad and Granddad, was a boxer. He loved sports; boxing, tennis, horse racing, volleyball, and well, mostly anything. He loved fishing, crabbing, and swimming at the shore and had been doing so for well over 54 years. John was a member of the American Legion Post 40, the Moose Lodge and was a member of the American Numismatic Association since 1969. In May 19, 1957, after two years of courtship, John married the love of his life and best friend of 58 years, Eileen Elizabeth Binderman at St. Jeromes Catholic Church. The following year, at the age of 23, he entered the U.S. Army and served from 1958-1964. He was a decent, kind, caring human, who saw the beauty of life and was artistically incline. John always had a passion for drawing, oil painting and life. Even as a soldier in Korea, he saw the beauty in the countryside, the people, the sky, and the sea. John once told his Lieutenant, “it was one of life’s experiences”; the good and the bad, the cold, the mud, the poor children in need of clothes and food and the rats that were as big as dogs! Who was this man seeing the beauty in this hell? A good man. A good man who loves life.
John F. Baker, III., is greeted by his wife and best friend, Eileen Elizabeth (Binderman) Baker and his parents. John is survived by his good friends, Jim and Lisa Thiess and Lee Suk Woo, John’s best friend in Korea.
