Born in South Baltimore August 26, 1930 Mr. Koontz resided in Glen Burnie with his wife the late Frances V. Koontz (nee Kenney) and family since 1952. A chemical engineer by trade, John worked for Allied Chemical Co. in Baltimore as well as several other chemical companies until his retirement in 1994. An Army veteran, he served with the 1st Cavalry during the Korean Conflict. A longtime member of Glen Lutheran Church, he enjoyed Reading, watching TV and studying history in his spare time. In addition to his wife he is preceeded in death by his parents Chester Ream and Irene (Koontz) Ream as well as 3 of his brothers and sisters. He is survived by daughters Kimberly I. Levin and her husband Barry of Owings Mills, Bonnie R. Aardrup and her husband Anton \"Skip\" Aardrup of Glen Burnie, Sheila R., Kathy L., and Donnie M. Koontz, all of Glen Burnie. Additionally, he is survived by his sister Matilda Tremper of Pasadena, 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He past away peacefully at his home following an extended illness.
