Joseph William Schmitt

Joseph William Schmitt was born July 31, 1937, in Pennsylvania to the late Herman and Mary Catherine Schmitt. Joe graduated in 1955 from Mount Saint Joseph High School and then from St. Francis Jr. College. He went on to proudly serve in the U.S. Marine Corps. After the service Joe worked in planning and research for the state of Maryland. In his free time he enjoyed crabs, listening to music, sports; especially wrestling and football and was the program director for the Severna Park Green Hornets wrestling, above all else he loved spending time with his family.
Left to cherish his memory is his fiance Patricia Matthews, children Kevin Schmitt, Stephen Schmitt, Jeffrey Schmitt, Brian Schmitt, Gregory Schmitt, Scott Schmitt, Stephen Neal and Susan Neal, sister Mary Catherine Durkin, 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 22, 2018, 5-7pm with a service beginning at 7, at Kirkley-Ruddick Funeral Home. In addition to services at the funeral home, a celebration of life party will be held at a later date.
