Born Josephine R. Brocatta in Baltimore on July 6, 1921 to Vincent Brocatta and Concetta Marie Peranio (nee Scardina). Mrs. Baumgarten lived in Anne Arundel County for most of her lifetime. A homemaker, she enjoyed Dancing, Singing, Cooking and Crafts. She created and decorated stuffed bears which many of her family members received. They described her as "Build a Bear" before there was "Build a Bear". Josephine was also known for speaking her mind and her salty language. She is survived by her sons Charles Baumgarten of Arnold, Joseph Baumgarten of Pasadena and John Baumgarten of New Jersey, her daughters Mary Anna Neighoff of Hanover, Concetta Young of Aberdeen and Frances Baumgarten-Koons of Crofton. She is also survived by a brother Victor Peranio of the Eastern Shore of MD and Sadie Custruccio of Pasadena as well as 15 grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren.
