On May 30, 2011, Karl Eugene Penner of Crofton passed away. He was 82. Born in Newton, Kansas, Karl lived in the Crofton area for 40 years. He is predeceased by his seven siblings. Karl is survived by his brother Jacob Penner, his sister in law Coza Penner and many nieces and nephews.
Karl served his country as a member of the United States Navy. He later worked as a banker for Columbia Federal Bank. He was a member of the Toast Masters Club and won trophies for the speeches he wrote. Karl enjoyed writing poetry and short stories. He even had one short story published in a local Kansas magazine.
Karl was an avid reader. He had an amazing recollection of Broadway show tunes, operas and classical music and also enjoyed singing. He was artistic and enjoyed painting and sketching. Karl also found enjoyment in history, mathmatics, movies, boxing and building furniture. He was also known to have a great sense of humor. He will be dearly missed.
