Laroy "Buddy" Stivers

Laroy "Buddy" Stivers, 86, Odenton resident, died peacefully August 20. Born September 21, 1927 to the late William T. and Henrietta (McCracken) Stivers in Patterson, New Jersey. Buddy resided here for over 40 years and was a devoted parishioner of Temple Baptist- Old Stage Road. He was a graduate of the Kentucky Mountain Bible School. He was a diesel mechanic in the Navy during WWII and he continued working with engines, even opening his own machine shop at one time. He loved collecting and repairing things, a true handyman and was also considered an amateur photographer. Most would remember Buddy for his time spent repairing watches at S & N Katz Jewlers. Buddy is survived by his wife Mary E. (Murphy) Stivers of Odenton; brothers, William F. Stivers of Severn, Richard Stivers of Annapolis, Ernest Stivers of Gambrills; sisters, Joyce Goetz of Laurel, Shirley Benton of Severn, Jun Finley of Hanover. He is preceded by his parents and sisters, Emma Hibbard and Helen Lirens.
