LaVerne M. Knight (nee: Hook), 94, died from complications with Alzheimers at Future Care of Chesapeake on March 18, 2014. She was born August 21, 1919 to the late Robert G. Hook and the late Myrtle (nee: Holmes) Hook in Baltimore, Maryland. She was 5 years old when her family moved to Elvaton, where she resided until she met the love of her life, her husband of 52 years, the late Clarence A. Knight, Sr. In 1947 they purchased a home in Ferndale to raise their children; the late Clarence Jr and Irene. For the last 13 years LaVerne has been living with her daughter and son-in-law, Albert. She loved to travel, spend winters in Florida after retirement, crochet, ceramics, making wicker baskets, bingo and even recently doing her search a word and solitaire. She is survived by her daughter; Irene L. Clark of Glen Burnie, son-in-law; Albert, brother; Gordon P. Hook of Millersville, sisters; Myrtle Dittmar of Glen Burnie, Joan Corcoran of Ferndale, grandson; Wayne Clark and wife Susan of Ohio. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son; Clarence A. Knight, Jr. and siblings; Robert Hook, William Hook, Holmes Hook, Helen Wade, Thelma Johnson and Mary Ellen Wright.
