Lewis R. Whetzler was born March 20, 1934 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Louis F. and Hazel L. Goodrich Whetzler. He was a resident of Glen Burnie for most of the last 50 years. Mr. Whetzler proudly served in the Marines during the Korean War. During his working life he worked as a purchasing agent for Westinghouse. He was a member of the American Legion as well as a member of First Baptist Church of Laurel, DE. He served as an Assistant scoutmaster as his sons were growing up. Lewis was an avid golfer, a reader of military intrigue books and westerns, he was a history buff, a member of the Model A club in North Carolina. He also enjoyed model trains, photography and loved to travel. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Virginia L. Hendrix Whetzler, sons Robert P. Whetzler of Texas, Randall L. Whetzler of Edgewood, daughter Roxane G. Casto of Glen Burnie, brother Richard Whetzler of Flourtown, PA and sister Jane Berry of Towson. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Mr. Whetzler passed away peacefully at Accent Care Hospice at Medstar Harbor Hospital.

Family and friends may visit at the KIRKLEY-RUDDICK FUNERAL HOME on Sunday, October 1, 2-4pm & 6-8pm. Funeral service will be on Monday, October 2, 12pm, at Kirkley Ruddick Funeral Home, Interment immediately following at Glen Haven Memorial Park.
