Linda M. St. Hilaire

October 3, 1948 — June 2, 2014

Linda M. St.Hilaire (nee Matsumura), 65, of Glen Burnie, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2014 at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. She was surrounded by her loving husband of 42 years, Richard A. St.Hilaire (Dick), daughter, Aimee B. St.Hilaire (fiancé Ian West) and her son, James R. St.Hilaire, all of Glen Burnie. In addition to her husband and children, Linda is survived by her brother, Reginald Matsumura of Richmond, British Columbia and her sister, Laverne Matsumura of New Westminister, British Columbia. Linda was born October 3, 1948 in Lethbridge, Alberta, to Shizuko and Seitaro Matsumura (both deceased). After she graduated from the University of British Columbia with her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, she traveled through Europe, eventually meeting and marrying Dick in Greece on July 15, 1972. She committed her life to her husband and children. She accompanied Dick on military orders to Misawa, Japan and Berlin, Germany, where she worked as a preschool teacher. She supported her children for years as an avid fan and supporter of their participation in Severn Athletic Club and Glen Burnie High School athletics, never missing a game or tournament spanning over 15 years. Linda was a skillful chef, who happily watched the Food Network or Cooking Channel and prepared meals for her family. She enjoyed gardening, and each year, added more varieties of vegetables and herbs to her garden for use in her cooking. In quiet times, she enjoyed taking walks and reading any variety of books, going to lunch with Aimee and watching movies with James. Her kind and selfless nature was felt by all who were lucky enough to know her. Brief services will be held at the Memorial Chapel at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery, 1122 Sunrise Beach Road, Crownsville, Maryland on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 promptly at 11:30 a.m., lunch to follow at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Church Hall, 7434 B&A Blvd., Glen Burnie, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or American Liver Foundation.
