Lorraine Preston

January 17, 1931 — August 10, 2019

Lorraine Steele Preston was born in Glen Burnie Maryland on January 17, 1931 to the late Mr & Mrs William Steele. Lorraine lived most of her life in Anne Arundel County in the Elvaton area.

Lorraine graduated from Glen Burnie High School in June of 1948. She married the late Peter M. Preston Sr. on October 9, 1948. She was a mother to 5 children William Michael Preston, Margaret Somers, Peter M Preston Jr, the late Roberta Petty and Pamela Preston. She has 8 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She is proceeded in death by her parents William and Loretta Steele, husband Peter M. Preston Sr, 2 brothers and 1 sister, daughter Roberta Petty, great grandson William ‘Trae’ Burnopp III, Daughter in law Veyonna Burnopp Preston and many other family members.

Lorraine started working in 1951 for County Trust Bank. When she retired the bank had changed hands multiple times and was then and still is now Bank of America.

Lorraine loved her family, the Orioles (win or lose), dancing, The Price is Right, Steve Harvey( to see what suit and shoes he was wearing) and 60 minutes.

She was a Girl Scout leader in the 80’s. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Millersville for “75” years this year. She also taught Sunday School. She loved to embroidery.

Lorraine knew a lot about the area she lived in and many people would ask her questions from things that happened long ago.

She loved to plant flowers, she loved them all especially the purple ones! She enjoyed taking her granddaughter Destanee out to help her plant, teach her what they were when they bloomed and where they may have come from.

Lorraine died in Millersville Maryland on August 10, 2019 at 8:30 pm.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday August 20th from 3-5 and 7-9. Wednesday August 21st at 11 and funeral on Wednesday August 21 at 12.
