Margaret B. Swope (Peggy), 95, Glen Burnie and Greenbelt Maryland resident, passed peacefully under hospice care Saturday, July 29, 2023. Peggy was born in Hull, East Yorkshire, England on Monday, April 30, 1928, to William and Annie (Beels) Jackman. She grew up during WWII during horrific bombing and many nights in bomb shelters,
In 1947, at the age of 18, she came to the states as a War Bride. Her sister Marie, also a War Bride, came to the states first, then her and then her youngest sister, Betty. They were a tight group of ladies, around 10 War Brides, all English, getting together at the American Legion Halls and each other's homes at least once a month or more. Peggy had a true love for her church, Holy Trinity Catholic Church and St. Hugh of Grenoble Catholic Church where she worshiped and celebrated her love for God.
